On Monday, August 14th, worship will be at 5:00 PM, instead of 7 pm so that people can attend the Luther Movie at the Monticello Theatre at 6:30 PM.

Pastor Green received a call from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Duluth, MN.
In the coming weeks Pastor Green will be prayerfully deliberating the two calls he now holds to decide where he can best serve the Lord at this time.
As I have heard various questions from people, let me try to answer a few. First, some information about Shepherd of the Hills. It is a congregation of roughly 240 souls with about 150 to 170 people in worship. About 75% of these members were not members 10 years ago. They have a growing preschool program with 3 called workers and 74 students. About 95% of these families are not members. The adult Bible study averages about 40 to 50 people per week, with many of the leaders active in bible study. They just completed 2 building projects in the past 10 years. They are looking to get a pastor to lead them as they move forward. Their challenges are to bring all together and assimilate new members and reach out to bring more to know their Lord. They have been vacant for 15 months, since April, 2016.
Can I share my thoughts with Pastor? Yes, most certainly do. Please call me or speak to me any time. I value your opinion. Please share your feelings or thoughts.
Does this mean our congregation might close? No, we may have our challenges, but the Lord provides. If Pastor were to accept the call, we would be served by a vacancy pastor from the area and we will begin calling a pastor.
It sounds like much is happening there, I’m afraid you will just look at that and not consider our needs here. Yes, it may sound exciting, but there are many exciting things going on here. There are many souls and needs that I am aware of here. It is not an easy decision, but I assure you I am not leaning right away to going.
Are benefits better there or do they offer a better salary? Will this better your career? Actually, I have not even compared the salary part. That is not something high on the list. What is my desire as a pastor? I want to faithfully serve the Lord and the souls he has placed in my care at this time. That is most important to me in the decision. I also have to consider the needs of my family. I remember a mentor pastor reminding me early in the ministry to keep the priorities straight: 1. God, 2. Family, 3. Work, 4. Other things. Certainly as a pastor, work and God are close together, but family has to also weigh heavily. I know that the Lord will also use this call either way I decide to his glory and for ALL of us to grow! As one pastor told me: “you can’t make a mistake on a Divine Call decision.”
Please keep me, my family & both churches in your prayers.
